Shoulder Pads are a fabric covered piece of padding designed to give the wearer the appearance of broader shoulders and to reduce the appearance of sloping. Shoulder Pads are often stitched into suits, jackets and other tailored clothing and are always prevalent in men’s fashion. The inclusion of Shoulder Pads in women’s clothing largely depends on the fashion of the day, they are usually associated with women’s fashion in the 1980’s and are the defining fashion item of the era. That is not to say that Shoulder Pads are not still an important aspect of women’s tailoring. In fact, Shoulder Pads have experienced resurgence in recent years and are often incorporated into women’s business dress; this look is often referred to as power dressing.
Shoulder Pads are sewn at the top of the shoulder area between the dress lining and outer layer of fabric, allowing clothing to hang more defined from the shoulders, creating a stylish appearance, and can be easily removed if needs be. Our range of Shoulder Pads are available in three different sizes – small, medium and large and are available in black or white from our Haberdashery section.
