At the weekend, many people were celebrating Valentine's day, the day of romance by going out for a special dinner, buying roses or having a cosy night in. Sherlock star, Benedict Cumberbatch took it to the next level however and secretly married his beautiful fiancée Sophie Hunter on the Isle of Wight. The pair are expecting their first child later this year and Sophie was recently seen at the BAFTA's looking stunning in a minimalist black dress which skimmed her bump and gave her a lovely silhouette. Although we have yet to see any photo's of the bride's wedding gown we have speculated what Bridal Fabric could be used for women who are expecting on their big day. For brides who are pregnant on their wedding day it is very important that they choose the correct Bridal Fabric and dress style to ensure that they are comfortable and looking their best with their bump. The design of the dress may vary depending on the stage of pregnancy you are at although the Bridal Fabric should be similar for all stages. One of the best dress styles for accommodating a bump is an empire line dress as all the detail of the dress is in the top half of the gown and the fabric on the bottom half will sit nicely over the bump. An ideal fabric to use for this would be chiffon as it is lightweight so will not be heavy over your bump and can be gathered in at the waist to create some shape. Just because you are pregnant doesn't mean that you can't have some shape. It is important that you do not choose a Bridal Fabric that is too heavy or structured as this will not sit well on you and will make you look large rather than pregnant and blooming. The best fabrics are ones that drape well and are fluid such as crepe, microfibre, chiffon and georgette. Another Bridal Fabric which could be used for a maternity dress is lace and this is often a soft fabric which will drape well and will provide detailing with the fabric itself rather than having to add lots of embellishment.
