A few weeks back Cheryl Cole surprised her fans by announcing she had married her French restauranteur boyfriend of three months, Jean-Bernard Fernandez-Versini. They married in a casual and very private ceremony on the beach in Mustique. There haven't been any official photographs of the couple on the day and not much has been revealed about what Cheryl wore so we have been speculating at what Bridal Materials she could have used for the big day. One of our sales girls, Helen, got married on the beach in a private ceremony in Australia a few years ago. Her dress was a shorter tea length dress and was made from corded lace. With a silk lining underneath, the dress kept the bridal look while also being comfortable for the warm climate. Lace is a popular Bridal Material, especially after the royal wedding and if the right weight and lining is used it can be ideal for a beach wedding. If you are aiming for a particularly casual, boho style the best lace fabric to use for this occasion would be a lightweight lace perhaps over a cotton lawn. This could be used to create a long or short dress with the cotton keeping you cool in either style. Another Bridal Material which would be a good choice for a beach wedding is chiffon. This is lightweight so would be comfortable to wear in the heat and would also pack well in your suitcase. A number of dress patterns can be made using chiffon and as it drapes well it would be great for creating a long, floaty dress that would give you a very romantic feel on your wedding day. This fabric is also popular for bridesmaid dresses and with a large range of colours available, especially within the cationic chiffon range there is something to suit every colour theme. The pastor for Cheryl and Jean-Bernard has said that Cheryl wore a 'white wedding gown with a train' so we know that she probably went for a more traditional long gown. The most traditional material used for wedding dresses is satin so it is possible that she chose this Bridal Material. For a beach wedding I would suggest a more flowing satin fabric such as a super soft duchess satin which is not as heavy as a duchess satin but will still give you the look of a traditional gown. Did you get married in a beach ceremony? What material did you use? Post a photo on our Facebook page as we would love to see.
