If you are an excited bride-to-be on the hunt for the perfect Bridal Fabrics to use in garments for your big day, whether it is your own gown, your bridesmaid dresses or even the cravats and ties that your groom and his groomsmen will be wearing, then look no further than Calico Laine's fantastic ranges of fabrics. We offer all sorts of satins, crepes and chiffons that are all wonderful choices for bridal and bridesmaid outfits, and in today's blog I'll be suggesting a few that we think are just fantastic for making that special dress, guaranteed to make you and your loved ones look spectacular on one of the most important days of your life. Satin Back Dupion – This lovely Bridal Fabric is reversible and features an interesting texture due to the slubs in the weave. We have been complimented on our colour range by customers who have been pleasantly surprised to find more unusual colours such as peach, duck egg and cinnamon available from us, although we do stock more traditional bridal colours such as white, ivory and cream. Satin Back Crepe – Although this is one of our more lightweight recommendations, our satin back crepe has a beautiful flow to it and has the added feature of being reversible; so whether your preference is shiny or matte when it comes to fabrics, you can use either side and still be pleased with the results. We also recommend pairing this fabric with a sheer fabric such as a chiffon or organza for a gorgeous finished look. Chiffon - We stock several different kinds of chiffon available in all sorts of colours. This beautiful fabric is a great choice for using as an overlay on a dress, skirt or even a delicate bolero jacket. Many of the shades available from us compliment colours available in our other fabrics to guarantee you have a complete, tied together look. It is a popular choice for brides who want to achieve a floaty, ethereal look with their gown. Duchess Satin – This gorgeous fabric is a customer favourite all year round. There are so many different colours available in our stock, from classic bridal colours such as white, ivory and cream to the more adventurous such as sunflower yellow, cerise and turquoise. It has a stunning matte finish and looks fantastic when made up. It is one of my personal favourite Bridal Fabrics to work with and sews like a dream.
