This weekend saw Nicky Hilton, one of the heiresses to the Hilton hotel fortune marry her long time friend and fiancé James Rothschild. The wedding was in London rather than Nicky's home country of the USA with the ceremony taking place in the orangery at Kensington gardens, home of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Unlike her 2004 wedding to Todd Andrew Meister which was a quick Las Vegas affair this was a lavish wedding and no expense was spared for the occasion. Similar to Kate Middleton, Nicky Hilton went for the trend of lace Dress Fabrics for her wedding gown and almost looked like royalty herself. [caption id="attachment_9346" align="alignleft" width="210"]Heavy Corded Lace Dress Corded lace dress fabrics ideal for a wedding[/caption] The dress was an ivory custom Valentino gown embellished with crystals and accessorised with a lace edged, cathedral length veil. Reported to cost £50,000 the majority of brides would not be able to wear such a grand dress for their own wedding however using our lace Dress Fabrics a similar style could be achieved at budget cost while giving the impression of a more expensive gown. Nicky Hilton's dress featured lace sleeves, a high neck and long train which was similar to dresses worn by Grace Kelly fellow heiress Ivanka Trump. This style of dress can be re-created using heavy corded lace Dress Fabrics. Using a duchess satin as the under layer of the dress to create a more structured look, the corded lace can be used as an overlay to the satin to create pattern. The top of the dress does not need any lining as the skin underneath the lace will make the detail of the pattern stand out to create a luxurious aesthetic. No matter how much money you have, things can still go wrong on your wedding day and unfortunately poor Nicky saw her long veil get caught under the wheels of the Bentley waiting to take her to the wedding ceremony. To avoid this on your wedding day you may want to choose a shorter length for your headpiece and if you are creating your own veil our veiling Dress Fabrics are perfect for this. The decoration for your veil can mirror the decoration on the lace that you have used for wedding dress itself. Heavy corded lace Dress Fabrics have a scalloped edge which can be cut around and then sewn onto the edge of your veil to create a bit of detail. Flowers from the lace can also be cut around and sewn on as motifs around the bottom of the veil.
