Scissors are definitely an extremely useful item in the Haberdashery family that, everyday, gets taken for granted! A lot of people look at a pair of scissors and all they see is an instrument consisting of two sharp blades arranged in an exact way on top of one another and fastened in the middle so that it allows the blades to open and close using handles that fit a thumb in one and your fingers in the other. They  are mainly used for cutting fabric, paper and other materials, but if you are lazy like me, you will use them for just about anything! Cutting food up in the kitchen if you can't find a knife, giving my fringe a trim when i start to feel like I can't see as much as I probably should, and just small things like cutting  sellotape, cutting tags off new items of clothing! Lets face it, scissors are a fabulous Haberdashery item! However, as a crafter/dressmaker I do keep a good pair of Fiskars scissors stashed away in my craft room (where the kids and husband are not allowed to enter, or else...). The reason I bought my beautiful 21cm general purpose Fiskars are because they are they are the model we use here, at Calico Laine, everyday and they have never failed us! They have long sharp blades with a slightly bent handle, used for slicing through many different materials in a smooth cutting action.
