So you've bought somebody special a gorgeous new sewing box for Christmas, you know they're going to made up with it The problem is, what Haberdashery items do you fill it with? Obviously you have all the generic basics, needles, threads, an unpicker etc etc. Why not add a few fun items of haberdashery to make it a Christmas gift to remember.

Prym pliers

By far my favourite and most used item of haberdashery is my Prym pliers. They're used for snap fasteners, eyelets, piercing. Prym have really excelled themselves with this product, it's so easy to use and then press studs in particular add an element of fun to whatever you're making. The press studs come in a huge range of colours as well as star and heart shapes, they are perfect for finishing off duvet covers, dungarees and dresses to a very professional standard. This handy tool can also be used when replacing jeans buttons and rivets, so it really is a useful item to have.

Pom pom maker

Another fun item to have in any box of haberdashery is a pom pom maker. Pom poms are everywhere lately, you will see them on cushion covers, hats, kaftans to name just a few. Why not add a simple easy to use device to your gift box enabled someone to create their own pom poms. I'd definitely add a basic ball of wool to this so the receiver can get stuck in straight away!! Finally I'd add a bobbin organiser to your sewing box, yes, admittedly its not as much fun as a pom pom maker but any keen sewer will tell you about the mess their haberdashery stash gets into because the bobbin threads have a mind of their own. Trust me, its something you're guaranteed to get a thank you for. Whatever you're gifting this festive seasons in sure any of this haberdashery items will be greatly received!!
