One of the most common requests we receive from our customers both online and in store is for dressmaking fabrics that do not crease easily, if at all. This is especially important for garments being created for formal events such as weddings, where one's look must be crisp and perfect. Normally, fabrics that are recommended for formal wear tend to be satins and silks, but if shiny finishes on fabrics are not really your thing, we always suggest our Microfibre Fabric as an alternative. Microfibre Fabric is a high quality polyester material which is extremely popular with our customers for all kinds of dressmaking projects, due to its beautiful drape and luxurious look. A great alternative choice for evening wear, formal wear and wedding attire, Microfibre is is known and sought after for its silky 'peach skin' finish. It is especially favoured in the creation of clothing for ladies, as it is not a clingy fabric but still manages to flatter the body with its lovely fall and draping abilities. Microfibre is an easy fabric to work with, however it will fray when cut. It is substantial enough to not require lining, however we do recommend that you finish seams properly (french seams are suggested where possible). If using dress lining is your preference, then we carry a great stock of colours to match whatever shade of Microfibre you choose from our amazing colour range. This Fabric is not limited to just formal garments; it is also a good choice for more casual projects such as jackets, skirts, dresses and even blouses. Having personally used Microfibre for some of my own projects, it has quickly become one of my favourite fabrics to work with and it is always a first choice for me if my projects call for it. If you wish to see our Microfibres before purchasing the meterage you require, we offer a sample service through our website - samples cost £1.00 each and there is no limit on how many you can order.
