It is nearly that time of year when the daffodils come out in the garden and the weather starts to become a little brighter (it's about time too!) which means that it will soon be Easter and around the same time, Mother's Day. When I was younger, we always used to make presents and cards at school for these holidays and I think it is still common in schools today. As a well known UK Craft Supplier, Calico Laine is a 'go to' website or store for people looking to buy craft supplies for their Easter projects. One of my favourite things to do when I was younger was to make a homemade card for my mum for mother's day. In our retail stores we stock 12' x 12' card which can be cut down and folded to create a card background and there is a multitude of craft supplies to use to decorate the front of the card. These include stick on diamante, felt squares; which can be cut into shapes, fabric motifs and ribbon bows and flowers. To trim the bottom or side of the card there are a huge number of ribbons to choose from including well known brands Berisfords and Bertie's Bows. If you are feeling more adventurous you could even create a present using our newest craft item, our cross stitch kits. This would be a long term project but would make a lovely, thoughtful present for your mum that she could treasure forever. At Easter there are often craft competitions for children to take part in at school including decorating eggs and making easter bonnets. Felt is an ideal craft item to use for this as it can be cut easily to create a number of different shapes including easter chicks and bunnies to embellish your child's easter bonnet. To decorate eggs, glitter glue and acrylic paints could be used as well as using our glues and adhesives to stick 3D items on to the egg such as googly eyes to create a face on the egg.  I remember when I was at school making a baby egg in a pram and winning my school competition! If you have any easter crafts that you would like share with us please post a picture to our Facebook page as we would love to see it.
