This week one of my friends came back from a romantic holiday to Iceland with her boyfriend and is now engaged! As you would expect with any newly engaged lady, the wedding is on her mind and she has been thinking of what colours and theme her wedding might take. One of the things we have been discussing is the wedding dress which is always a very important part of the big day for the bride. We have been discussing Bridal Fabric and what style of dress she might pick. There are a number of popular bridal fabrics and here are just a few that she may pick. Lace: Lace has become a particularly popular Bridal Fabric in the last few years especially since Kate Middleton wore it for the royal wedding. Some brides choose to have their whole dress made in lace whereas others choose to just have a little bit of lace either as a bolero over the dress or as lace sleeves. One of our most popular laces is our heavy corded lace which has a scalloped edge. This edge gives a dress a lovely finish at the bottom or can even be cut from the fabric and sewn onto the neckline or sleeves to add extra detail. We have recently added some soft corded lace to our range which would be a perfect Bridal Fabric. Duchess Satin: Duchess satin is a traditional Bridal Fabric and one of our best sellers. It is a heavy weight fabric and is best for structured designs including wedding dresses with a mermaid tail. Duchess satin is available in white, ivory, cream and champagne making it a great choice for bridal wear. It has a matt finish to it which is ideal as most brides do not want a shiny fabric on their big day.  With a little sheen to the finish it is a luxurious fabric and will make you feel like a real princess on your wedding day. Satin Back Dupion: If you are looking for a silk Bridal Fabric but cannot afford the price of real silk, Satin back dupion is the ideal fabric for you. Satin back dupion has a slub in the fabric which is similar to raw silk and once your dress is made up, no one will know that you aren't wearing 100% silk. Similar to satin back crepe, this fabric can be used on either side providing both a matt and shiny finish. Again, this fabric is available in a huge range of colours including a number of bridal shades such as ivory, cream, neo gold and silver.
