So it is getting to that time of year again when it is deemed unacceptable to still be wearing your summer clothes. You may still have a glorious tan from your two weeks in Majorca, and you may still be proud to show it off by wearing a mini skirt, but lets face it, you're legs are covered in goose pimples and you've probably never felt colder. Lets all just be sensible, nice thick woolly tights, with a fitting skirt to suit the weather and a gorgeous hand knitted jumper made by Grandma. Hey! Maybe it's even time to take out and dust off that coat of yours, Buy Zips to replace the old and get ready for the rain that will want to keep us indoors for weeks on end. It's not all bad though, at least it gives us all a real reason to stay in, craft and have fun-filled days spent on sewing. Our haberdashery selection is ever growing with thousands of products that can be used to create new items of clothing, sprucing up the old and even just to be used for fun crafting projects. You can Buy Zips, buttons, thread, scissors, literally everything you need, here at Calico Laine, we have it! As I drive to work each morning, I see countless images on billboards and bus stops with young women wearing funky bohemian 70's style clothing, and it does, it looks amazing! I can definitely see why  clothing from the 70's is making its way back on to all the clothing rails and our own wardrobes. This decade was a complete gold mine of bizarre and flamboyant items, the shoes were big, chunky and oh-so-stylish, the design of clothes was very simple and sharp, hair was 'either go big or go home', a lot of the patterns used were very daring and outrageous - and always, strangely, looked fabulous! So, unlike most years, I actually really like the 'fashion' that's trending at the moment and have decided that I want to have these lovely things I see on posters. Obviously working here at Calico Laine, the home of hundreds of dress making fabrics, I'm not limited. The possibilities are completely endless. So when our new range of heavy faux suedes came into store I knew that that was the push I needed to make my own clothes, the first being a lovely chocolate brown, suede A line skirt with big antique domed buttons going down the middle on the front. All I need to do it Buy Zips,  fabric and the buttons and I'm half way to being a 70's chick!
