A best seller in our Haberdashery section is zips and we sell these by the hundreds each week. Customers buy them to replace exisiting zips on their garments if they are broken or if they are creating a new piece of clothing or accessory that needs an opening. We stock both open ended zips as well as closed ended zips so that you can either open them fully so that they detach at the bottom or the zipper pull stops at the end so that the item does not open fully. Our zips come in a huge range of sizes, colour and material for example brass, nylon or plastic. Haberdashery zips that we are often asked about are ones that would be suitable to be sewn into knitted garmets. We have a large number of customers who enjoy knitting and regularly ask for zips that would be able to go into children's cardigans, men's jumpers or ladies jackets that they have knitted. We usually suggest either our nylon open ended zip for the smaller children's items or our plastic open ended zips for the more chunky items such as cable knitted cardigans. These can both be opened fully so that the zip comes apart at the bottom for you to remove the garment like a jacket. Both as strong as each other it is simply the aesthetics that may mean you wish to go with either the plastic or nylon. A new item that has been added to our Haberdashery section is a range of zips designed especially for the knitters amongst you. Manufactured by the german company Prym, we now have a specific zip fastening for knitwear that can be easily knitted into clothing. On the edge of each zip is a number of loose threads a few centimetres apart from each other. Using these threads you can either knit the zip in by knitting through this thread with your normal knitting needles or using knitters hand sewing needles they can be sewn in. These are designed not to 'clog up' or catch when the zip is pulled up and down which can sometimes happen when an ordinary zip is used. Available from size 12" up to 28" and in 8 different colour these are sure to become a favourite with our knitting customers.
