Here at Calico Laine HQ, we pride ourselves on stocking one of the largest collections of Dressmaking Fabrics available on the market today. Season after season, there are certain Dressmaking Fabrics which we can always be sure will sell out soon after they hit our shelves. One of those fabrics is Chiffon. Many people make the mistake of associating Chiffon Dressmaking Fabric with weddings and think of it strictly as a bridal fabric when in fact, it is actually one of the most versatile Dressmaking Fabrics we sell. Chiffon is often seen on red carpets at major events including The Grammys and The Oscars as it is the perfect choice of Fabric for creating stunning, feminine evening dresses and cocktail gowns. Back at the start of 2013, HRH The Duchess of Cambridge sparked yet another fashion frenzy during a tour of Malaysia when she visited Kuala Lumpur's Assyakirin Mosque wearing a beautiful knee length dress of pale blue Chiffon Dressmaking Fabric. This classic number from eco label Beluah was the perfect choice for keeping Katherine cool in the sometimes stifling Malaysian climate, whilst still being appropriate for the occasion and in keeping with local traditions. Chiffon is the ideal choice of Dressmaking Fabric for warmer climates as it is light and flowing and is often chosen for elegant summer dresses and beach cover ups. Chiffon Dressmaking Fabric is often thought of as a more formal Fabric when in fact, when worn correctly, it can be an integral part of your casual wardrobe. Hollywood superstar Jessica Alba nailed the casual Chiffon trend when she attended the Ralph Lauren catwalk show at New York Fashion Week in late 2013. The 32 year old film star looked incredibly chic in a flowing pink Chiffon skirt, expertly teamed with a cropped black jumper, elegant stiletto sandals and a matching patent leather bag. With her flawless complexion and Hepburn-esque do, Jessica's look was enough to outshine any of the models on the catwalk. This mix of fabrics and textures paired with a pair of oversized sunglasses would work perfectly for an elegant lunch date or summer shopping trip or even for a more relaxed business-casual ensemble.
