Chiffon comes from the French word for cloth or rag, it is a lightweight, plain-woven, Sheer Material. Chiffon Fabrics are a very popular choice with dressmakers and it is frequently used to create beautiful prom dresses, bridal gowns and lots of other eveningwear. If you choose to use any of our gorgeous selection of Chiffons it will definitely make the wearer feel elegant and classy on any occasion. All of the Chiffon Fabrics we stock are 100% polyester and are all machine washable on a cool wash, which makes life a lot easier! If you do choose to use any one of our chiffons, whether it be cationic chiffon, extra wide chiffon or our georgette fabric you will need to know the good and the bad aspects of it. If I could sum Chiffon Fabric up in one word I would say it is beautiful. You could wear a garment made in it for hours on end and when you come to take it off - still no creases! You can simply layer it over a matching dress lining and this fabric will add sheer delicacy unlike any other material. Chiffon also looks impeccable for an overlay over a satin or a taffeta fabric and this is more often than not done when creating bridal gowns. It is quite possibly the most perfect choice for formal attire that you could make, you just cannot go wrong with chiffon - whatever type you choose! However, like quite a lot of its fellow, deluxe fabrics, chiffon can be extremely tricky to manipulate whilst sewing - 'sew' if you are a beginner, I would highly recommend you try working with an easier fabric, such as cotton. If you use too strong of a needle when sewing Chiffon Fabric it can tear through this limp, light fabric. You can buy our Chiffon Fabric online by the metre, so why not take a minute to browse our stunning range - you might get inspired!
