Now that the Great British Sewing Bee is over there will be a lot of people across the country who have a new motivation to get the sewing machine out or buy a sewing machine and get dressmaking. Whether you have done dressmaking in the past or are new to the idea, the sewing bee is sure to give you some ideas to get you started whether it be something from International week or the 1960's week. At Calico Laine, through talking to current customers, we have found that there are not many fabric stores around the UK as there may have been in the past and therefore we help all those budding dressmakers by offering our Fabrics Online as well as in our Wirral based shops. This allows people who do not have the chance to buy locally to purchase from a large range of fabrics to make all of their garments. It is always preferable when you are buying fabric to see it in person as sometimes colours and textures can not come across accurately on a computer monitor however if you do not have a shop to physically go into then this is the only choice you may have. To help you choose your Fabrics Online, we offer a sample service which allows you to feel the fabric and see the true colour. Our samples team cut a piece of the fabric (approx 3" x 6")  and attach them to a card with all the details of the fabric on such as the width, price and composition. This allows you to make a decision as to whether the fabric is suitable for you. We charge £1.00 each for the samples however there is no sample charge, much cheaper than paying for a Fabric Online that isn't quite right for you. At Calico Laine, we have a large selection of Fabrics Online to pick from. If you are creating a bridesmaid dress, a summer dress, children's clothes or some active wear, we have a number of options for you to choose from at competitive prices. We try and source the best quality fabric we can and as well as offering fabrics we also sell a huge variety of haberdashery to help you with your dressmaking too. Fabric can be bought by the metre and part metre (after the first metre) and for those of you working on a particularly large project, we also offer cheaper pricing for bulk buys. If you are ever unsure of what you are looking for, our sales team are always on hand to help over the phone and by email. We can help you with fabric choices and suggest colours that go together to make sure your garment turns out just how you imagine it will.
